above all else, max wants to graduate high school with good grades and make his parents proud. that's his first goal, and he's been working diligently at it. his most valued goal lies with music, however: he wants to perform live in front of thousands one day and hopefully become a professional singer/songwriter. if not, he wants to major in music in college and work in the industry. all he knows is that he lives, breathes, and eats music all the time. another goal with max is to let people in, maybe enough to pursue an honest relationship.

he's afraid that someday he'll just break down, and his diabetes will get to him. he's been strong up until this point, but he doesn't know how much longer he can cope up. the highs and the lows are getting really shaky and it's a struggle, some days. max is also afraid of ending up alone, because he tends to push people away without knowing it. he's afraid that no one will ever just accept him and want to be with him. he's also a little bit afraid to let people in, which explains his initially reserved personality. it's a minor fear, but he's also scared his parents will find out about his nasty little habits.

quiet & serious;
ever since he was a child, maxwell has been quiet. he never made a fuss as a baby, never fought with his brothers, and always listened to his parents. max had his priorities set even as a child, playing more with his fake guitar and drumset than anything else that he got for christmas. throughout his life he never made much noise and is a very soft-spoken, articulate young man. he doesn't like talking too much because he knows that if it's important, he can say it briefly and get to the point. he has a very mature outlook on life and he comes off as very serious, which he is to a certain extent. he's very serious about his ambition and his musical aspirations, and he doesn't take his goals lightly. these are two parts of his personality that are an integral part of who he is.

like his brothers, maxwell was raised to be a gentleman. he holds doors for ladies, picks up girls books, and always pays for the first date. he likes to see people happy so he'll go the extra mile for the smile, doing whatever it takes and putting them first. he really is a self-less young man, raised in the church by his strict and loving parents. he treats others the way he wants to be treated (most of the time, that is). he firmly believes that men should always be there for women and help them out; he's not backwards in any way, he just thinks that men should step up and stop slacking off. maxwell is a very sweet kid, with a heart of gold. he's loyal to the death and would do anything for his family or those he considers close friends. once he lets you in, you've basically got the key to his heart. he's genuine, passionate, and full of life - people just like to be around him. he has that hunger in his eyes to reach the stars, and at the rate he's going he just might.

this is part of a front that he puts up, that everyone who knows him really hates. he likes to cop a 'rockstar' swagger sometimes and can be quite the jackass, but that's not how he really is. sometimes he does it to protect himself from being hurt, because he doesn't like to let just anyone in - that gives them the power to hurt him. now let's be honest; he knows that he's young, handsome, and has a great body so why not use that to his advantage? he does whatever he can to get the girls, but mostly he plays hard to get - his mysterious and aloof air draws girls in like moths to a flame. if you catch him on one of the days that he just feels like acting like he's "all that", then he can be rather obnoxious, but on most days his brothers tell him to knock it off.

having diabetes has shaped maxwell into the person he's become. in some ways, it's made him mature for his age. he was at first crippled by the news, asking "why me, God"? every night at his bedside. but then, he let his headstrong nature take over and decided "why not me?" he decided to take this disease and make something of it, and with that he perservered through the toughest of times and came out a better person for it. he's grown accustomed to hard situations and he knows that if he sets his mind to it, he can do anything. he now knows that his diabetes won't hinder him from his goals in life, because he has a drive and a love for what he does that makes him unstoppable.
sarcastic and witty;[/font][/i]
maxwell has the kind of humor that can be a little harsh at times. he likes to go for more subtle jokes that are on the wittier side. he's never intentionally mean, but most of the time he is very blunt and straightforward. his sarcasm is usually directed toward people that irritate him, and it can be quite biting when he wants it to be. this is part of the exterior that he's developed to keep people out. if they're willing to ignore this part of him, then they're probably worth a second try in his books.

his father jokingly tells people that "maxwell was born thirty-five and gets more middle-aged each year." in some ways, that statement is true. ever since he was a child he seemed too wise for his age, picking up on things that kids usually don't pay attention to. his brow would crinkle with the intensity of his thoughts, even as a baby, and it would make his parents laugh. he acts very mature for his age and tends to gravitate towards older things, like vintage clothing and music. people like to be around him because he gives off that wise-vibe, and it's almost obvious on his face - his deep brown eyes look too old for a fifteen-year old. he's used to his friends calling him an "old soul" and accepts the nickname with grace.

all in all, the complexities of his personality boil down to this: he's a great young man. maxwell can be hard to crack but its worth your time, because a friendship with him can be very rewarding. he sits and listens to all your problems, wipes away tears, and sneaks in after getting a 2 AM text to bring you your favorite drinks. he's not big on physical contact but he will hug those that he loves gladly, and sometimes he does so just so that he never has to feel like he's losing them. he gives great advice and is almost always there, as loyal as can be. even if you sit with him in silence, it's comforting, because you know you can lean on him. maxwell is a strong character with good intentions, and despite his flaws he'll always be there - that's a promise he never breaks.

hair , maxwell inherited his hair from his mother. he has very distinguishable thick, brown curly hair that he never tries to straighten. he likes the natural look and he just washes his hair and lets it dry on its own. sometimes he needs to add product to keep it from frizzing, but for the most part it behaves. if he gets lazy and doesn't cut it, it can be really shaggy and unruly. more recently he's taken to a particular cut that allows him to keep his curls, but in a more styled way. he always seems to have a few ringlets in his face, though. it works toward his mysterious appeal.
eyes , his eyes are also from his mom - they're a deep chocolate colored brown. they're kind of almond shape and smaller than his brother's, which almost makes him look like he's always focusing. it gives him an intense sort of an expression. he looks mysterious and brooding almost all the time, even when he doesn't mean to. they're framed by long lashes and decently sized eyebrows. when he laughs, they slightly crease at the corners in an endaring way.
built , max is built very well for a young man of his age. he's very active and plays soccer and baseball a lot, so he's definitely in shape. his body's toned and muscled, but he dresses modestly so he never shows it off. it's a pretty hot body for a 17 year old, i must say.

fashion sense , max has really grown into his fashion sense over the past few years. he dresses old for his age, usually in flannel checkered shirts or scarves and trench coats. he's got a very gentlemanly look about him and he definitely knows how to dress well. he's a big fan of ties and ascots, and likes to wear dress shoes out with jeans. he knows how to put together an outfit so he always looks sharp and casual at the same time. he loves vintage clothing and goes out of his way to find things from earlier era's, like the 70's. he takes fashion tips from his idols like Elvis Costello and puts his own spin on it, which explains the way he looks all the time. his impeccable fashion has definitely gotten him noticed.
