overall personality ,
-----> Lauren’s personality was formed on an upbringing of neglect. Taken for granted and used many times in her life, it’s hardly a surprise that she doesn’t let herself depend on anybody. To keep people from wounding her when they (inevitably) leave her, she forms relationships at a distance. She has friends and can be a friend, but she’s the kind of friend that is only there for a good time, to go out occasionally for some drinks or a party, but never there to confide in. She makes it extremely clear that she has no intention of getting close and intimate by exercising a sharp sense of humor that combines insult with casualty and wit, a mixture that when used repeatedly can take quite a large chunk out of someone’s ego. Funny, but hurtful. For this reason, the only people who usually spend time with her are those that can handle being treated like such.
Laure is an extremely focused student. She puts work and studies above all else, never procrastinating or allowing her social life to get in the way. She’s a bit of a perfectionist, and strives to stand out and rise above others. Work that’s below par or even average is unacceptable for her. While she is dedicated to doing well and succeeding however, she doesn’t let herself become catty or vicious to competition. She can still be professional and fair to others.
Psychology is Ren’s major for a reason- she’s good at understanding people. She’s always had an uncanny ability to see through a person and get a hold on their emotions and nature. However, this doesn’t make her a people person. While she sometimes knows you better than you do, she dislikes many people and thinks human nature is mostly negative. It could be because of her understanding of people that she tends to lean towards somewhat misanthropic thoughts and tendencies.
Ren has a lot of room to change, but it will be difficult for her to actually begin to grow.
hair , It's thick, slightly wavy, chestnut / light brown hair that falls about shoulder length. The hair underneath is darker than the top layer, which is streaked lighter. She usually pulls it behind her head and wears it up messily in a black comb and various clips.
eyes , The irises are dark brown, the kind where the pupil gets lost upon first glance. Her eyes are slightly hooded, and almond shaped. She has ver arched, thin eyebrows, darker than her actual hair color.
builty , She's fondly called a twig by her friends, which is not that much of an exaggeration. All bones and skin, Ren looks almost too thin to be healthy. She doesn't eat very much, and she's naturally got a small frame, which combined gives her an extremely frail appearance. She has long legs that are disproportionate compared to her body, as well.
weight , 106 lbs.
height , 5' 7"
fashion sense , Lauren likes to look clean and sensible, but not boring. She likes blouses and darker colored pants. On the rare occasion that she wears jeans they're dark in shade and not ripped. She also wears tight vests occasionally. She wears plain, simple bracelets around her wrists.

overall history ,
There was a motto in the D'Alfonso household: "forgive and forget." Ren was never able to do either, and maybe that was why she could never get along.
Lauren was born during a difficult time in her parents' marriage. She was their second child, a mistaken pregnancy that her mother had refused to abort, despite her husband's desires.
A year after they had her, following many arguments and ceaseless fighting, the two filed for divorce. Rafael got to keep their apartment and much of the money, but Anne took custody of Rachel and Lauren, ages one and eight at the time. The three moved into a small apartment on the other side of the city, and lived there for a good seven years. Their mother tried to give them the love and attention they needed, but she was always busy managing her business. Lauren became fairly independent, amusing herself and working her way successfully through school and life without much aid or guidance from her mother. Of the two sisters, she was the most isolated.
Then, when Ren was eight and Rachel fifteen, Anne crashed into an oncoming car when she was driving home from work drunk. She broke her neck and died at the site of the crash, leaving her two daughters to be shipped off to live with their father, switching parents again. Rach took her mother's death much harder than Lauren, and she separated herself from her sister. Lauren was young, couldn't understand why Rachel wouldn't let her in, and her relationship with her sister fell apart even further.
Another relationship that was strained was between the girls and their father. Rafael really wanted nothing to do with his daughters. If he was able to, he would deny the fact that they even existed, especially Laure, whom he had never really known before she moved in for the second time. Luckily for him she was already independent and would rather be by herself anyway.
Things got bad when Raf lost his job, though. He would drink every night, and sometimes stay away from the house for multiple days. Lauren had detached herself from her father so much that she hardly cared. She also hardly cared when Rachel moved out without so much as saying a goodbye. One day she was scouting for a house, Lauren didn't realize it, and the next she was gone. At least, Ren told herself she didn't care. Secretly, being completely alone all of the time depressed her. She never forgave her sister for leaving her with their father. She became an excellent student because she spent all of her time studying or working, since she had no one to talk to and nothing else to do.
When Laure was sixteen she met a boy named Andrew Black, who became her best friend. They dated for a while because Ren needed company and Andy thought she was hot, but the relationship was superficial. After they had been seeing each other for a month Ren began to realise that Andrew was a lot like Rafael. She began growing distant from him, and he suspected her of cheating. He hit her, and it progressed from there. Whenever he would get angry he would hurt her. It took her a while to finally end the relationship, after he left a bruise on her face obvious enough for everyone to really see what was going on.
After this Ren became somewhat of a party girl. She began to smoke, slept with anything that moved, and did anything to get as much attention as she could. Maybe it was to make up for her complete lack of attention as a child. Eventually Ren met a girl that ended her self-destructive habits named Marly, and she was happy for the first time in a while. They were together for a while, and just when Laure finally felt like she could rely on someone Marly flew to a college miles away and didn't even look back. The relationship ended, and Ren gave up.
She moved to New York to attend college there, and major in psychology, one of her passions, and then become a lawyer. She stayed completely focused on her education and didn't spare any time for relationships or her personal life.
